Connecting Chocolate Factories, James Bond & Silos!

In every business there are words that you get to hear every day and in our sonic horns business perhaps one of the most common words we hear is "silo".

Silos are used for bulk storage of many types of dry, powdered material - eg. cement, sugar, carbon black, detergents and lots more. So there are many industries who need effective silo cleaning equipment to keep their silos free flowing and our sonic horns are in always in demand for that reason.

So where does the chocolate factory and James Bond reference come in? Well, we like to 'connect the dots' sometimes and this is just a fun example of that involving silos!

Above is a picture of some silos at a chocolate factory (they might contain sugar or cocoa powder or milk powder). The moment you say 'chocolate factory' most people think of Roald Dahl's wonderful children's story 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. Now Roald Dahl did not include any mention of silos in the story but perhaps that's because sonic horns were not fully developed and widely available as a silo cleaning option at the time. If they had been, maybe he would have featured the Oompa-Loompas trying to clean out a sugar silo manually with Willy Wonka chastising them for not blasting the sonic horn instead! Sounds far fetched? Not really .... Roald Dahl was a man with an eye for detail and wrote about silos elsewhere. His screenplay for the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice"featured a missile silo! So you see there is a connection :)

Whether you have a chocolate factory or a brewery, a sugar processing plant or a gravy plant, you are likely to need sonic horns. Read more about the solutions we offer for bulk storage bin cleaning in the food industry.
